A bike built without limits, for the riders looking to test them.

This frontier requires a new kind of gravel machine, one engineered not to roam the trails, but to race them.įor these athletes, we engineered Aspero for pure, unapologetic speed, ready to take down finish lines, KOMs, PRs, and FKTs. Soloist benefits from a couple decades of refinement, and comes out of the gate feeling just right.Ī new breed of rider is emerging-one who loves the freedom and exploration that gravel culture was founded upon but who has a hunger to ride hard, to go all out, and to explore not just geography but personal limits. The R5 is beloved by pros and amateurs alike for its poise, stability, and precision when that killer climb turns into an even more killer descent. We took the handling geometry for the Soloist directly from R5. That can accommodate mechanical and electronic shifting, stand up to a power-washing at the local car wash, and be passed around between team members throughout the course of the season. That’s easy to work on and easy to travel with. Without these luxuries, most modern road racers need a bike that’s light AND aero. S5 might be out there collecting Tour de France Points jerseys, and R5 going first across the line in the Alps, but most of us don’t have a service course, team mechanics, and support car at our beck and call. That's the kind of tradeoff we can get behind. Soloist comes in a hair lighter than S5, but significantly more aerodynamic than R5. It balances light weight and aerodynamic performance to deliver a bike that really is 'just right'. Far from being pros-only, the new Soloist has been designed for the week-in, week-out amateur racer. And now it’s time for a new generation to get acquainted. In the early 2000s, it was the weapon of choice for top World Tour contenders on CSC and the Cervélo Test Team. The Soloist is perhaps Cervélo's most famous bike. IMPORTANT NOTE: We always recommend there to be 4mm of clearance around whichever tire/wheel combo is installed on the bike. Of course, there are variables-rim width, tire casing/tread depth-which will affect final clearance. We engineered the bike to fit most 700x42 or 650x49 tire/wheel combos, comfortably. The ability to adjust trail with the two-position "Trail Mixer" to compensate for the extreme range of tire sizes ensures a uniform ride experience. "Trail", or front wheel response to rider input, is the most critical factor in high-velocity handling. Most gravel racing is done without the benefit of a World Tour peloton-or World Tour tactics-and when it's your nose in the wind all day, it's nice to know your bike's shouldering a bit of the load. Some might say aero doesn't matter on a gravel bike, but if you've battled a headwind across an open prairie, the thirty-two grams of drag you'll save with the Aspero-5 come as a welcome respite. No cables in the wind, tubes derived from our library of aerodynamically proven shapes, and just a hint of a cut out in the seat tube to squeak out just a bit more tire clearance, add up to a bike that proves the adage. Our engineers like to say, "If it looks fast, it probably is"-but there's some truth to it, and Aspero-5 looks fast standing still. A faster Aspero, a lighter Aspero, and-dare we say it-an even better-looking Aspero. And because at Cervelo we know that flat out doesn't stay flat out for long without a little help from science, we've come back from the drawing board with a new Aspero. That's how Aspero debuted under the characters of the Wednesday Night Rough Club two years ago, and that's how it's stayed.
